About the Program
The Maritime Management and Operations Program is a practice-oriented associate degree program designed in consideration of the evolving structure of the maritime transport and port sector and increasing competition at both national and international levels. The program aims to educate qualified intermediate-level professionals required in ship operations, maritime transportation, port and terminal services, logistics processes, and commercial maritime activities.
The curriculum is structured to cover professional areas such as fundamentals of maritime management, ship and shore-based operations, port and terminal management, cargo handling and planning processes, ship agency services, logistics and supply chain practices, maritime trade, and transportation systems. In addition, courses such as international maritime regulations, maritime law, an introduction to marine insurance, basic economics, and business administration enable students to understand sectoral operations in a comprehensive and operational manner.
Contemporary topics including digitalization, data-driven decision-making, and smart port applications are also integrated into the program.
International maritime legislation and standards, safety culture, quality management systems, environmental responsibility, and principles of sustainable maritime transport constitute important components of the program. Students are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to develop practical, analytical, and ethical approaches to problems encountered in ship-related processes as well as port and shore-based operations.
Graduates of the program acquire the professional competence to work in operational, planning, field coordination, and administrative support roles within port authorities, terminal sites, ship agencies, logistics firms, maritime companies, and organizations related to maritime trade. They are trained as technical personnel who are proficient in practical applications, capable of taking responsibility, and able to manage work processes effectively within the sector.
