About the Program
The Maritime Transportation and Management Program provide practice-oriented, competency-based education designed to meet the national and international demands of the maritime sector, aiming to train qualified deck officers and maritime transportation professionals. The program is structured in accordance with the STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) standards established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Throughout the education process, students gain both theoretical knowledge and intensive practical training in areas such as navigation, ship handling, bridge operations, cargo handling and stowage, ship safety, survival at sea, firefighting, marine environmental protection, maritime law, and ship management. Simulator-supported courses, laboratory applications, and sea training enable students to develop professional competencies in environments closely resembling real operational conditions.
The program also equips students with the ability to effectively use electronic navigation systems (ECDIS, ARPA, GMDSS), onboard automation systems, and emerging maritime technologies. In addition, bridge resource management skills such as crisis management, decision-making, leadership, and teamwork constitute an essential component of the training.
Within the scope of Maritime English education, students acquire communication skills aligned with the IMO Standard Marine Communication Phrases (SMCP), enabling them to conduct international maritime communication effectively. The program also places strong emphasis on professional ethics, legal responsibilities, occupational health and safety, and environmental sustainability.
Upon completing the required sea service and successfully passing the relevant competency examinations, graduates are eligible to serve as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (OICNW) on commercial vessels. They also have career opportunities in maritime companies in areas such as operations, technical management, and maritime transport planning.
This program prepares students not only for today’s maritime industry requirements but also for rapidly evolving fields such as digitalization, smart ship technologies, and green maritime transportation, aiming to develop lifelong learners capable of working in the global maritime sector.
